Hadrian's Stone Design Studio and Gallery is a new art gallery located in Bow / Edison. The owner of the gallery, Houston Foist, puts a special focus on local and regional artists of all mediums.
An artist himself, Houston uses a proprietary material to replicate the look of granite, marble, or natural wood. His custom-designed vessel sinks, water fountains, benches and dining room tables are on display at the gallery. "Any color, any texture, in a fraction of the time. I can make it look like natural wood or any natural stone." Houston explained.
The gallery opened in November featuring fellow art gallery owner Katie Walton of Red Barn Art Gallery and contemporary artist Deirdre Czoberek. Katie creates vibrant mosaics inspired by mood, memory and the feminine spirit. Deirdre describes her style as a continual exploration of color and design with abstract paintings.
The new artists for December are Linde Husk, an acrylic painter from Conway, and Whitney Buckingham, an abstract artist with a very special process. Whitney is unique in her style of design using various dyes and colors and then setting them on fire.
Linde Husk will be showing her series Landscape Allusions. "Imagery of landscapes have their own special way of drawing us in. While they can evoke ideas of escape or adventure, their truly special quality is the way they capture one, infinitesimal, moment in time."
Houston invites you to visit the gallery during the first weekend of every month to experience the revealing of a new show with the featured artists providing demonstrations. The art shows often have a charity aspect with a portion of the proceeds going to a local nonprofit.
